Ryan
Berndt is one of the trumpet players and the newest member of the
Gaudete Brass. Ryan’s talents for publicity and web design
have helped the quintet expand into new markets and develop exciting
new publicity for the group. Ryan brings strong background in both
education and performance to the quintet. Ryan has taught trumpet
at the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s College in
South Bend, Indiana. He has performed with several orchestras, including
the Silk Road Ensemble, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, toured with
the Regis Philbin Orchestra, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra,
St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra in Minnesota, Center Chorale Orchestra,
and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra. Ryan earned a Bachelors Degree
in Trumpet Performance at St. John’s University and a Masters
Degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of Notre Dame and
has studied with Mark Ridenour, Manny Laureano, Dale White and David
Baldwin. Ryan makes his home in downtown Chicago where he entertains
his neighbors by practicing in his apartment. When he is not performing
with the quintet, Ryan enjoys cycling by the lakeshore, rock climbing,
kayaking and backpacking. He also spends time as a member of the
crew of a 40’ racing sailboat. Ryan is passionate about college
football. His pro football team of choice is the Minnesota Vikings,
creating a conference rivalry between three members of the quintet.
